Tall Tales and Typing (boys entering grades 6 – 9)

Everyone loves a good story. Crafting a good story, however, takes a lot of work and practice. This week-long program helps students learn the art of the narrative and techniques of writing. Topics will include simile / metaphor, dialogue building, character and plot development, etc. In addition, each day will include an imitation practicum wherein budding authors will practice imitating the style and tone of great authors. The program will also include a multimedia approach to narrative building, which will give students interesting prompts for writing short pieces. Each afternoon will include a lesson on proper keyboard typing techniques, followed by time to practice those techniques while writing their story. The goal of this program is that students become comfortable creating, writing, and typing stories.
