Halls
Anchor, Elm, Mead, and Stone: the four Halls of Sparhawk! Each Hall is derived from the shield on the school’s coat of arms. All students, faculty, and staff belong to one of these Halls and earn points for their Hall throughout the course of the year in a number of ways—games and athletic events, poetry and speech recitation, and more. The primary days of competition are Festival Days, where academic work is put aside while the Halls enjoy Holy Mass, the Competition of the Bard, a worthy meal, and spirited games. The year culminates in the Trial of Champions, when the Hall with the most points is awarded the Minuteman Trophy.
The Halls cultivate camaraderie, leadership, and a healthy rivalry among the boys. They serve as families within the larger family-like community of Sparhawk Academy. The student’s placement in a Hall is permanent and siblings (and usually first cousins) will automatically be placed in the same Hall.
