Overview

There’s no better way to experience the beauty of creation than through adventure. Endorphins rush as you fly through the woods, fresh scent of pines filling your nostrils, each rock on the path ahead speedily and carefully catalogued in the map of your mind. Awe strikes you as you gaze out at sweeping panoramic views of mountains in the distance. Adrenaline pumps as your fingers and toes cling to the tiniest bits of granite that have existed for millions of years.

Through this camp, your son will experience the sports of rock climbing and trail running. In the mornings, we will head over to Central Rock Gym to boulder. The boys will learn about climbing safety, techniques such as body positioning and footwork, and have ample time to climb with friends. We’ll then head back to Sparhawk for lunch before transitioning into trail running. In the afternoons, the boys will learn about running program basics, the fundamentals of efficient movement, and will have the opportunity to run throughout Sparhawk’s beautiful grounds and on local trails. The week will culminate in an excursion to Pawtuckaway State Park in New Hampshire where the boys will climb on some of the best boulders in the country, run/hike on the park’s extensive trail network, and wrap up with a refreshing swim in the park’s lake.

Through outdoor adventure, the boys will grow in courage when facing a steep wall, fortitude when their lungs start to burn, and charity when striving alongside their fellow campers to tackle a fun, yet challenging climb or trail.
